Viking Community TransportShopper BusThe Community Shopper Bus is a fifteen seater mini bus service provided by Essex County Council in partnership with Althorne Parish Council. This subsidised service is being provided to assist those residents who have been affected by the removal of the 31X service from the upper part of the village, and who cannot manage to get up and down Summerhill to access the 31X service at the Post Office stop. The service is operated by Viking Community Transport under contract to Essex County Council. Passengers wishing to use this service must be members of Althorne Community Bus and must hold a membership pass (this includes those who already hold a concessionary bus pass). There is a flat fare of £2.00 for either a single or return journey. Those who hold a concessionary bus pass can travel free when showing their pass. The service will run on Tuesdays and Fridays each week to various destinations in Maldon.
