Althorne Railway Station

Althorne is fortunate to have a railway station on the Crouch Valley Line, with regular train services to London Liverpool Street, a distance of 40.3 miles from Althorne Station. The fast commuter trains do the journey in one hour. Rail services are operated by 'National Express East Anglia' (part of the National Express Group) who have held the franchise since it took over from First Great Eastern on 1st April 2004, the date when all the operators in East Anglia were merged into one new franchise. The branch line forms Network Rail route EA 1060.

When the National Express group took over the franchise the name of the operating company within the group was 'one'. However, on February 27th  2008 'one' railway was renamed 'National Express East Anglia'.
